Guide Choice Hare's Ear

A buggier, more animated variation of the classic Hare's Ear, the Guid's Choice adds movement and attraction with the addition of a soft hackle collar. This pattern imitates a wide range of aquatic insects - mayflies, caddis, and more - and is incredibly effective in rivers, streams, and stillwaters alike. A true year-round producer and a favorite among guides for its versatility and consistency. If you had to pick one fly to fish anywhere, this might be it.

Presentation

Nymph Rig >

This pattern fishes well year-round in a Nymph Rig, especially when presented near the bottom. It is most commonly ties on as the smaller dropper to match the subtle profile of natural insects.

Dry Dropper Nymph >

Fished in tandem with a highly visible dry fly acting as an indicator, this setup allows the nymph to suspend higher in the water column - ideal for targeting trout feeding just below the surface on emerging insects or drifting nymphs. A deadly combination during hatch transitions or in shallow riffles.
