SnapHatch App
Match the hatch on the water and off the grid with the SnapHatch App. By integrating offline insect recognition with current conditions, SnapHatch provides the insight and clarity needed to understand the water and fish more effectively.
Just $34.99/yr - Only $2.91 a month!
Match the Hatch with Insect Scan—image recognition built to function off the grid. Scan and identify an insect, evaluate fish activity, and select a Reading the Rise option—then the app recommends the most effective imitations and presentations.
When a scan isn’t possible, use Manual Selection to compare the hatch to a catalog of identified insects and select the closest option to generate the same recommended match.
The Digital Fly Box is designed to match the specific layout of the SnapHatch Fly Kit. You can also use the Digital Fly Box layout to organize your own fly box for streamlined access.
When a hatch is matched and the app presents the best imitation, tap the Fly Kit icon in the corner of the image to highlight its location in the Digital Fly Box—then choose that fly from your kit.
To learn about each imitation, tap on any fly icon to open the Fly Detail page, which provides specific imitation and presentation information.
When you identify an insect, the app automatically tracks the date, time, and location to build your own Hatch Log.
Reference stored match details and recommended flies, with the option to update the Reading the Rise selection to provide a new match as fish behavior changes.
For a streamlined way to log each catch—upload a photo of your fish, and the app automatically populates the date, time, and location along with real-time conditions—including river flow, barometric pressure, and weather. Confirm the species, weight, and length, then add your imitation and presentation to create a complete record in your Catch Log.
The interactive map provides an overview of Flow Stations, your Hatch Log, your Catch Log, and Live Waters—active hatches reported across the US. By evaluating your recorded data with current conditions on the water, you can identify proven patterns for more successful fishing. Downloadable map sections ensure these insights are always available, even when you are off the grid.
The Fishing Tips offer practical insights designed to help you understand fish patterns and fly presentation. Offline resources include presentation illustrations, instructional videos for essential knots, and seasonal fish feeding behavior. Use these resources to present each fly more effectively and fish with confidence.

awesome app!! straight forward and easy to use! it has helped a ton with understanding the different insects and the different hatches on the water when it comes fly fishing. It has also help me as a new fly tyer trying to sort out the millions of flies I could tie, all I have to do is take a picture of the insects by where I'm fishing and it generates flies to imitate that insect.
I have no idea what to do when it comes to picking flies and this app has been incredibly informative. Being able to just take a picture and have a list of suggestions pop up has been a game changer and will be a very valuable asset in my future. Overall very well thought out and it looks like this guy did a ton of research! Great app!
SnapHatch is one of the best ideas I have seen in a while!! It will tell you the perfect fly to tie on from a quick picture of some bugs. I have used it a handful of times and ever since I have caught more fish than ever before. The interface is seamless and easy to use. I have told everyone I know about this that’s how awesome it is!
SnapHatch looks like a great app, it will give you reccomendations on what setups to use based on fish activity (hitting top water or not) and what flies you see floating or flying. Seems accurate, I manually selected a fly I see often, and recommended exactly what I usually use. Highly recommend
The snaphatch app is really awesome. Entymology was the hard part of Fly Fishing and this app takes all of the guesswork out of which fly I should be using. Finally an alternative for an Entymology course. Syncing the app was tough, but the customer service chat was very helpful. Great App!
