Rubber Leg Copper John Black

A proven staple in modern nymphing, the Rubber Leg Copper John combines the heavy, fast-sinking profile of the original with added movement for even greater effectiveness. The copper wire body and bead head get the fly down quickly, making it ideal for deep pools and fast currents. The addition of rubber legs adds lifelike action, helping it imitate a wide range of aquatic insects - including mayflies, stoneflies, and general attractors. Versatile, durbale, and deadly in nearly any condition.

Presentation

Nymph Rig >

This pattern fishes well year-round in a Nymph Rig, especially when presented near the bottom. It can be used as either the lead or dropper fly, but is most often tied on as the larger lead fly to help get your rig down and attract attention in deeper runs.

Dry Dropper Nymph >

Fished in tandem with a highly visible dry fly acting as an indicator, this setup allows the nymph to suspend higher in the water column - ideal for targeting trout feeding just below the surface on emerging insects or drifting nymphs. A deadly combination during hatch transitions or in shallow riffles.
