Baetis Nymph

A simple yet highly effective Blue Winged Olive (BWO) imitation, the Baetis Nymph is a go-to pattern when trout are feeding just below the surface but ignoring duns. Its slender, natural profile closely mimics the real thing, making it especially productive during BWO hatches in cooler months or overcast conditions. An essential fly for picky fish in clear, pressured water.

PRESENTATIONS -
Nymph Rig >

Fished as the dropper fly in a Nymph Rig, this pattern excels when targeting trout feeding mid-column. Applying floatant to the fly and upper tippet helps keep it suspended off the bottm, effectively imitating an emerging insect as it rises toward the surface.

Emerger Rig >

This emerger performs well fished alone in a dedicated Emerger Rig, where its suspended profile sits right in the strike zone during hatch activity.

Dry Dropper Nymph >

Fished in tandem with a highly visible dry fly acting as an indicator, this setup allows the nymph to suspend higher in the water column - ideal for targeting trout feeding just below the surface on emerging insects or drifting nymphs. A deadly combination during hatch transitions or in shallow riffles.
